Working Through a Migraine
by Trish Sanford

Suddenly and violently pushed into a room
filled with terrorists - unknown even to
themselves.

Bullies with laughter taunts and finger prods
and whispers that pierce the tissue of the brain.

I would gladly tell them anything they want to know,
if they would just finally ask a question.

A co-worker who has a smile that hurts and uses
the word "yummy" as inward bile heaves,
looks into my face, confusion on her own, and
says, "You look as if something isn't right."

I guess that's all I'm trying to say.
