Ode to
Advil Extra Strength
by Julie Bristow |
|
Blinding headache
Gate crasher, petulant acquaintance
A fan of non-descript size continually chatters its annoyance
Quiet please
The air is
moving no longer stale-breathe slowly
Thank-you
Trapped in my
head no means of escape-exasperation
Inertia my champion
Merry beams
of light peak uninvited through treasonous blinds
Curtains would be more prudent
Overstuffed pillows cradle like a tender lover
But somehow more welcome.....right now
"Fickle, fickle"
Bedside photos concur in unison
A mothers voice rings true
Not now!
Sleep elusive sleep
Fruitlessly chasing white
rabbits
Who,
What, Where, When, and Why?
Fly away pompous browbeater!
I click my heels together a lack of
slippers moderately discouraging
Oh, no! Did I take one or two.....diplomatically oblivious.
