Mad Carnival

Inside myself
There is a wonderland
Where each and every minute thing
Is larger than life.
A carnival
Filled with brightness, color
And utter whimsy.
A sideshow
Of darkness, going places
I’d rather not see.
Where beasts
Run primal, caged within
And yet unpent, unleashed.
Where senses
Become overwhelmed, and emotions
Lie shrouded in misperception.
And I stand
Both dazed and mesmerized
Where no one
Else
May
Go.
