In the Dark
by Felicia M.

I sit in the dark.
As it creeps ever closer.
The pain's not bad...yet.
But it’s growing stronger, stronger
By the slowing second.
Dripping poison.
Rotting through my brain.
Pushing down my tears,
Pushing down my pain,
I live through day to day.
Trying to stay sane.
The pain is greater now.
Pounding like a hammer.
Even the smallest sound,
comes out as a scream.
My head is wheeling, there's nothing for the pain.
Screaming in my head.
It wouldn't even help if I was dead.
Finally it’s all over.
Slowly it creeps away.
I sit in the dark,
Waiting for the pain.
Waiting until it comes another day
