Honorable Mention
Cycle of Pain
by Julie C.

Pain, it engulfs me
It overwhelms me
It drives me
It becomes me.
It is all that I am
It is all that I feel
It is all that I see.
It separates me
Drives others away
Alienates me.
And then…
encouraging words from another.
A smile from a stranger
Strength sent from across miles
Shared by someone who knows the same pain.
Hope. All I am left with, again.
Hope. My only friend.
All that gets me through the night.
And then all over again
And then…
Again.
